Maria Broom
As an actress, Broom is known nationally from her roles in HBO’s “The Wire” and “The Corner”. In Baltimore, she is the ‘StoryDancer’ with Young Audiences of Maryland. A Fulbright scholar, an OSI-Baltimore Fellow and a former television news reporter, she is the honored recipient of the 2004 Governor’s Arts Award. Currently on the faculty at the Baltimore School for the Arts, Broom also mentors eighty young “Dance Girls of Baltimore.”
