Bobbi Macdonald and Michael Chalupa
Bobbi Macdonald is the Executive Director and founder of The City Neighbors Foundation, Inc., City Neighbors Charter School (2005), City Neighbors Hamilton (2009), and City Neighbors High School (2010). Driven by a core personal vision of “nothing without joy,” Macdonald has been a dynamic leader in the movement for transforming public education in Baltimore. Originally from Chicago, she received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Illinois in Human Development and Family Ecology, and holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, in Curriculum and Instruction.
Michael Chalupa is the Principal and Academic Director of City Neighbors Schools. He has been a classroom teacher in grades 4-8. Chalupa is an experienced administrator of policies and programs, a passionate advocate of teachers, has written and implemented new curricula, and has directed a grass-roots, parent-led cooperative to professional independent school status while maintaining core values of community service, global awareness, character education and tolerance. Chalupa came to City Neighbors from Massachusetts, where he completed his Masters degree at Harvard Graduate School of Education.
