Robert E. Slavin, Ph.D. is Director of the Center for Research and Reform in Education at Johns Hopkins University, Director of the Institute for Effective Education at the University of York (UK), and the co-founder and Chairman of the Success for All Foundation. He is a leading expert on research-based school improvement, reading instruction, English-language learners, and federal education reform policy. Slavin has authored or co-authored more than 200 articles and 20 books. He received the Distinguished Services Award from the Council of Chief State School Officers in 2000. In 2010, Success for All received a federal Investing in Innovation (i3) grant to scale-up its research-proven whole school improvement approach, and was the highest-rated applicant based on its evidence of effectiveness and capacity to expand to 1,100 more schools over five years.
